SENEGAL
Less than seven hours from New York is a country where the sun shines every day. It is a country steeped in history, culture, folklore, music and fabulous cuisine. Senegal is a place where there is a warm welcome for everyone. There is so much to see and do in Senegal we would like to suggest the following itinerary to whet your appetite!

Day 2 — Today a city tour of the points of interest in Dakar; the beautiful buildings and palace, IFAN museum where a fine collection of West African masks is housed, the University of Dakar and much more.

Day 3 — This morning is for shoppers! You will go to the markets, to the tailors or that special place. Your afternoon is free.

Day 4 — Today an excursion to the mysterious rose-colored body of water called the Pink Lake. Enjoy a Senegalais specialty for Lunch before continuing to the fishing town of Cayar where gaily colored ‘pirogues’ battle the surf to bring in the day’s catch.

Day 5 — Day at leisure. On Sundays you can have lunch poolside with special entertainment by the Ballet Folklorique. A spectacular of dance and African rhythm.

Day 6 — Today you take the ferry to Goree Island. Once a major departure point for millions of slaves to the Americas, the island with its pink houses and carless streets evokes many different emotions.

Day 7 — Time to depart.

GAMBIA (3 Days)
A little added extra would be a visit to The Gambia and its capital Banjul.

Day 1 — Depart Dakar for the Gambia and its capital Banjul. You will travel pass the Baobab forest and many small villages. The busy ferry will take you to Banjul. This afternoon a city tour.

Day 2 — Today take the ferry to the north side of the river and travel through the countryside to the village of Juffure. It was here that over 200 years ago Kunta Kinteh was abducted and sold into slavery.

Day 3 — Return to Dakar.

LAND OF HOSPITALITY (8 Days)
Day 1 — Arrive in Abidjan, a fisherman’s village in 1900, today one of the finest cities and largest ports in Africa.

Day 2 — This morning tour Abidjan, highlights include; the ‘Laundrymen of the Banco’, an open-air laundry where hundreds of clothes are washed in a little river, and the Cocody Market, colorful and bursting with activity. Visit downtown Abidjan, the museum and the St. Paul Cathedral.

Day 3 — Day free to relax or explore on your own; you may want to visit Yamoussoukro, the administrative capital of the country.

Day 4 — Visit Tiagba, the river village, as it rises out of the waters on wooden piles. Tiagba is a living example of man’s adaptation to the environment. On the way you pass rubber tree, pineapple and oilpalm plantations that line the road. After you have crossed the lagoon in a dugout canoe, the villagers will be happy to help you discover their watery hamlet.

Day 5 — Day free to relax or explore on your own; you may want to take a daytrip to Assinie, a beach paradise.

Day 6 — Visit Grand Bassam, the first capital of Cote d’Ivoire. See the first trading houses built, the old quarter with the restored palace of the colonial governor, now a Museum of Costumes and much more.

Day 7 — Day is free.

Day 8 — Depart for your next adventure.

GHANA
Ghana is set in the tropics, with constant cool breezes and lots of sunshine. The lush vegetation, forest-clad mountains, lakes and rivers, wonders enough for the most experienced traveler. Ghana is rich in history, much of which has been preserved over the centuries for you to relive today. The people are extremely friendly and cheerful, they delight in sharing their culture. Wherever you go you will loose your heart to Ghana’s unspoilt charms.

THE GOLD COAST (8 Days)

Day 1 — Arrive in Accra, capital of Ghana. You will be transferred to your hotel.

Day 2 — This morning tour Accra; drive pass the State House, visit Independence Square, and on to Makola and Accra’s biggest market to see thousands of Ghanaian traders buying and selling. Visit the National Museum where Ghanaian culture is told in Arts and Crafts, and more.

Day 3 — Today travel along the coast to Elmina, passing through different cultures; Ga, Ewe and Akan people. At Elmina visit St. George’s Castle, the oldest castle on the coast built by the Portuguese in 1482. It is historical fact that Columbus spent two nights at the castle on his way to discover America.

Day 4 — Drive through interesting villages and towns, pass picturesque forest scenery and view Kwahu Scarpsat Nkawkaw on your way to Kumasi, the capital of the ancient great Asante Kingdom and cultural city of West Africa. Visit Yaa Asantewaa’s home, the Queenmother of Ejisu who fought the British Army with valor in the 1900 war.

A tour of Kumasi includes: Asante Cultural Center, Kumasi Market, drive pass Manhyia Palace, the residence of Asantehene and the Military Museum.

Day 5 — The day is spent exploring Asante cultural villages. Visit Bonwire to see Kente weavers, Ntoso and Ahwia villages to see wood carvers and pottery makers plus Adinkra and fertility doll speciality. Time free to shop and explore.

Day 6 — Today return to Accra.

Day 7 — Free day.

Day 8 — Depart for your next adventure.
